Green-Wood is the place for me

If you look long enough, I’m sure everyone can find someone famoSimeon Dewittus in their family tree.  I’ve finally found my famous guy: Simeon Dewitt, official geographer to George Washington, founder of Ithaca, and graduate of Rutgers.  Simeon is my great-great-great-great grandfather.  Dewitt Clinton

What does this have to do with Green-Wood Cemetery?  Simeon Dewitt was Dewitt Clinton’s first cousin.  Dewitt Clinton was mayor of New York City from 1803-1815, and also the sixth governor of New York State.  Without him, the Erie Canal wouldn’t exist. What’s with the frowny face, Dewitt?

Dewitt Clinton is buried in Green-Wood Cemetery.  I learned this from reading Forgotten New York.

What does all this have to do with vintage cowboy shirts?  Absolutely nothing.  But since you asked, here’s some more about Big Tex from Dallas Art News:

Big Tex

That’s a big shirt.
