Florida Marlins slugger Mike Stanton hopes to get rid of Golden Sombrero – Palm Beach Post – Florida Marlins Manager Jack McKeon reminisces about wearing cowboy outfits.
Enough talk about sombreros. Let’s talk 10-gallon hats — because that’s what McKeon used to wear back in 1963 when he managed the Dallas-Fort Worth Rangers in the minor leagues….“We all had cowboy outfits when we traveled. We had 10-gallon hats, cowboy shirts, cowboy trousers and cowboy boots. They loved it. I still got mine,” McKeon said. “I hated putting them boots on. Now they got a little bit more streamlined. They’re easy to get off and on.” McKeon has no plans for his Marlins to wear cowboy outfits when they leave Oakland tonight. “We’re not cowboys. We probably ought to go down in shorts and T shirts,” he said.
