If you ever want to feel grateful about your desk job, I recommend reading Germinal, by Emille Zola, the 1885 masterpiece exposing “the inhuman conditions of miners in northern France in the 1860s.”

Feeling under-appreciated at the office?  I recommend Matewan, the story of  “one of  the most violent incidents in the history of the 1920-21 Coal Wars.”

Today I am grateful that I don’t work in a mine, Chilean or otherwise.
